When the hostess took us to our table it was extremely close to the table next to us, who had also just been seated as they were on the elevator before us. I had never been here and thought it would be a nice place to have dinner before he caught his flight. My son is home from the Navy before he ships off to Japan for 4 years. I was taken back by the service or should I say lack of service my family received here. The ticket price includes a souvenir photo taken against observation tower backdrops. Oddly, there were some free standing video game machines too. There was a gift shop on the first floor selling trinkets and candy. 3) The elevators to the top and back were a bit "jerky" and made me fear that it's time for an inspection. As an aside, the Tower needs a countdown clock in the film waiting area to show visitors how long they have to wait for the next showing. And, the chair movements didn't really mirror what was going on in the movie. Also, the moving chairs were using very old tech that'll was super rough and could easily throw your back out or make your gestating baby come early. We went expecting a short film about Texas, but it was just a random excerpt from the Wonder Woman 1984 movie (why?). 2) The 4D theater needs scrapped and rebuilt. It'd be helpful if the Tower had a window open for people who already purchased tickets on-line or through third party vendors. You still have to stand in line to exchange the tickets for the wrist band needed for entry. The cons of visiting the tower: 1) Buying tickets in advance from places like GoRio, doesn't shorten your admission time. We didn't dine there so can't speak to the quality of the food. The Chart House restaurant at the top has limited hours and seating, so reserve in advance to eat there. For the brave, there is an outside observatory around the perimeter. At the top is a 360 degree view of San Antonio with helpful graphics showing what viewers are seeing (building names, etc). The Tower is in Hemisfair Park (built for the World's Fair held in San Antonio in 1968). Of course, tourists need to visit this observation tower although there are cons to doing so.
